The company, which counts Microsoft (MSFT) and OpenAI among its customers, said the partnership will support Qatar’s National Development Strategy and Digital Agenda 2030, which aim to modernize government operations.
It will look at applying AI-driven approaches to a wide range of functions, such as legal process efficiencies through a civil judicial research tool, improved regulatory review processes through automation, and enhanced healthcare administration for better patient experiences.
“Longer term, the partnership will assess how AI can personalize education, optimize urban planning, strengthen financial systems, and build more sustainability initiatives,” said Scale in a release.
The deal “can be a blueprint for other governments around the world, and it allows us to really commit in a way that I think could drive impact even faster,” said Trevor Thompson, global head of growth at Scale AI, as reported by Reuters.
Scale AI Hits $14B Valuation
Last year Scale AI raised $1 billion from the likes of Meta and Amazon in a deal that valued the San Francisco, California company at $14 billion. The funding round was led by Accel, and included Nvidia (NVDA), Cisco (CSCO), Intel (INTC), ServiceNow (NOW), and AMD (AMD), among others.
The company, a startup that helps tech companies improve the data they use in AI, is playing a leading role in generative artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs), as the data needs to be labeled correctly before it can be used.
It’s now increasingly working alongside government as well as private and public companies.
In August 2023 it won a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office to advance AI capabilities for the entire military. Scale AI also launched Donovan, an AI-powered decision-making platform and the first LLM deployed to a U.S. government classified network.
