Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone entry in the series and isn’t a direct sequel. Instead, of a sweeping open-world adventure, the game is focused on teaming up with up to two other players to tackle hoards of enemies during the day and fight bosses at night.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a strange departure from the original game and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The game is designed to be played in spurts with each run lasting 35 to 40 minutes. The areas players explore will also be procedurally generated and play areas shrink over time. This mimics the style of battle royale games but lacks the player-versus-player aspect.
What Elden Ring Nightreign Means for Kadokawa
Kadokawa is likely hoping to draw in a huge crowd with Elden Ring Nightreign. While it’s a different style of game than its predecessors, it still carries the Elden Ring name. That means a lot when the original game sold 28.6 million as of September 2024 and its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold 5 million copies three days after its release.
How to Invest in FromSoftware Ahead of Elden Ring Nightreign’s Release
Kadokawa is the majority owner of FromSoftware with a 69.66% stake in the company, Sony recently increased its stake in FromSoft to 14.09%, and Sixjoy Hong Kong, a division of Chinese gaming giant Tencent (TCEHY), also holds a 16.25% stake in the Elden Ring developer.
Sony and Tencent will be the easiest stocks for investors outside Japan to purchase. Sony lacks recent coverage but Tencent has a Moderate Buy rating and a $66 price target, representing a potential 14.35% upside.
