And a major phase of the Donald Trump saga has come to an end, as the “criminal hush money” case has delivered its sentence: “unconditional discharge.” Truth Social (DJT) investors, meanwhile, greeted the end of this case with a fresh wave of investment, sending shares up over 1.5% in Friday afternoon’s trading.

The long-awaited sentencing—which President-Elect Trump was allowed to attend via videoconference—ended in spectacularly anticlimactic fashion. Trump was sentenced to “unconditional discharge,” which basically means “nothing.” No jail time, no fines, no fees or penalties, not even probation.
Naturally, Trump found little positive to say about the experience, declaring it “very terrible” and a “political witch hunt,” which makes a certain amount of sense given how it all turned out. The judge in the case, Juan Merchan, noted that “unconditional discharge” was really the only sentence that could be handed down, given Trump’s election to the presidency. Merchan noted that that office, and the protection that comes with it, “is a factor that overrides all others.”
Facing TikTok
Yet, even as Trump successfully clears one major hurdle, another is waiting in the background. TikTok, a social media platform—and by extension a rival to Truth Social—is planning to shut down its operations in the United States altogether by January 19, unless a Supreme Court ruling saves it, noted a report from Billboard.
Trump plans to “save TikTok in America,” noted a report from The Independent, though this is an unexpected departure from five years ago when Trump promised to shut TikTok down. But, after having joined TikTok—and finding a whole new following therein—Trump seemed to reverse course, declaring he would come to its aid.
Is Truth Social Stock a Good Buy Right Now?
Turning to Wall Street, no analysts currently hold a rating on DJT stock. So we turn to the last five days of trading instead. As it turns out, DJT stock is down fractionally in that interval, down just 0.44%, after a fairly active week that ultimately balanced itself out, for the most part.
