Trump’s WLFI Triples ETH Holdings Before Tomorrow’s White House Crypto Summit

Trump-linked decentralized finance (DeFi) platform World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has tripled its Ethereum holdings just days before the highly anticipated White House Crypto Summit on March 7. According to Cointelegraph, WLFI significantly increased its position in the past week as prices briefly dipped below $2,000. Data from Arkham Intelligence shows that WLFI now holds approximately $10 million more in Ethereum than a week earlier.

The platform also acquired $10 million in Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC-USD) and $1.5 million in Movement Network (MOVE) tokens, raising questions about its timing and strategy.

WLFI Faces Massive Unrealized Losses

Despite its aggressive buying spree, WLFI is sitting on an unrealized loss of over $89 million across nine different tokens, according to Lookonchain. The platform’s dip buying coincided with a period of heightened market volatility, influenced by macroeconomic concerns and the recent $1.4 billion Bybit hack—one of the largest crypto exploits in history.

Trump’s DeFi Venture Expands Its Crypto Strategy

WLFI’s purchases come shortly after launching its “Macro Strategy” fund, which aims to support Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other assets “at the forefront of reshaping global finance.” According to WLFI’s announcement, the fund seeks to create a “resilient financial system” by diversifying across tokenized assets.

Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin has hinted that the Trump family might build “one or more giant businesses on Ethereum.” This has fueled speculation about deeper government ties to blockchain technology.

With WLFI making significant Ethereum purchases, traders are watching to see if this accumulation will have any lasting impact on Ethereum’s price. At the time of writing, ETH is sitting at $2,254.57.
