Wedbush analyst Moshe Katri notes that Outperform-rated MasterCard’s (MA) SpendingPulse holiday tracking data was essentially in-line with expectations, with a number of interesting twists, including continued, solid strength in e-commerce — with Outperform rated PayPal (PYPL) dominant, BF retains its title as the top spending day of the year, and among the verticals tracked, Restaurants had the strongest performance, while electronics and jewelry posted the weakest performance. The analyst believes these results bode well for the networks Visa (V) and MasterCard, as well as for PayPal, which continues to dominate e-commerce.
