Utah fluoride ban could be marginal tailwind to dental demand, says BofA

BofA notes that Utah’s House and Senate passed a bill that would ban the fluoridation of water and that news sources indicate that Utah’s Governor intends to sign the bill into law. Banning of water fluoridation in Utah could be “a marginal tailwind to dental demand in the state over a long period of time,” according to the analyst, who is watching to see if other states follow suit while noting that North Dakota, Tennessee, and Montana had or have similar bills introduced in relation to banning water fluoridation. Ultimately, over time, banning water fluoridation could be a marginal lift to the dental consumables demand and has the potential to increase the long-term dental consumables growth rate, adds BofA. Publicly traded dental suppliers and service companies include Henry Schein (HSIC), Dentsply Sirona (XRAY) and Patterson Companies (PDCO).
