A United Airlines (UAL) flight departing Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport to New York’s LaGuardia was evacuated Sunday amid smoke and flames coming out of one of the engines of the Airbus (EADSY) A319 plane, the New York Times’ Remy Tumin reports, citing a statement by United and social media posts. The crew “received an indication about one engine and halted the takeoff while still on the runway,” United said, with all 104 passengers safely exited using slides and stairs.
