Unilever has started initial discussions with buyout firms about a possible sale of its ice cream business, which includes Ben & Jerry’s and could be worth as much as $19.4B, Swetha Gopinath and Dinesh Nair of Bloomberg report, citing people familiar with the matter. Unilever has started holding management presentations with potential bidders, and private equity firms Advent International, Blackstone (BX), Cinven and CVC Capital Partners are among those that have shown preliminary interest, sources told Bloomberg. Other buyout firms such as Clayton Dubilier & Rice and KKR (KKR) have also been studying the asset and a formal sale process is likely to start in the second half of the year, the people added.
