UBS (UBS) is in talks to take over parts or all of Credit Suisse (CS), which might involve a government backstop, Justin Baer, Margot Patrick and Ben Dummett of Wall Street Journal report, citing people familiar with the situation. The banks have discussed a number of scenarios, including those that end with UBS taking over all or parts of Credit Suisse, sources told the Journal. Swiss authorities are expected to reach at least a rough deal before Monday’s market open, the paper adds. The talks were reported earlier by the Financial Times. Reference Link
