The U.S. plans to award Samsung (SSNLF) more than $6B next week to build four chip facilities in Taylor, Texas, including a $17B plant, as part of the $52B CHIPS Act, Reuters’ Alexandra Alper reports, citing two people familiar with the matter. The subsidy will be unveiled by Commerce Department Secretary Gina Raimondo. One source says it will be the third largest of the program, behind TSMC (TSM), which was awarded $6.6B on Monday and agreed to expand its investment by $25B to $65B and to add a third Arizona factory by 2030.
