U.S. Surgeon General Murthy wants warning label on social media, NYT says

Vivek H. Murthy, the Surgeon General of the U.S. said in in an op-ed published in The New York Times, that mental health problems among “young people” are in crisis mode and social media is a notable contributor. “It is time to require a surgeon general’s warning label on social media platforms, stating that social media is associated with significant mental health harms for adolescents. A surgeon general’s warning label, which requires congressional action, would regularly remind parents and adolescents that social media has not been proved safe,” added the Surgeon General in his NY Times in an op-ed. Companies in the social media space include: Meta Platforms (META), Tencent (TCEHY), Pinterest (PINS), Snap (SNAP) and Reddit (RDDT)
