U.S. Steel (X) is in the midst of a dispute with rival Cleveland-Cliffs (CLF) over a confidentiality agreement that would allow Cliffs to participate in a sale process that is underway, Reuters’ Greg Roumeliotis, Anirban Sen, and David Carnevali report, citing people familiar with the matter. U.S. Steel has not opened its books to its competitors since announcing last month it would look into a sale, even as it accepts initial offers this week from other potential suitors, because Cliffs will not agree to its terms, the authors note.
