Treasury Department hacked by state-sponsored actor in China, NY Times reports

The Treasury Department said in a letter informing lawmakers of the episode that a state-sponsored actor in China hacked the department, gaining access to the workstations of government employees and unclassified documents, reported The New York Times’ Ana Swanson. The Treasury Department said that it had been notified on December 8 by a third-party software service company, BeyondTrust, that the hacker had obtained a security key that allowed it to remotely gain access to certain Treasury workstations and documents on them. Publicly traded companies in the cybersecurity space include Check Point (CHKP), CrowdStrike (CRWD), CyberArk (CYBR), F5 Networks (FFIV), Fortinet (FTNT), Gen Digital (GEN), Okta (OKTA), Palo Alto Networks (PANW) and Qualys (QLYS).
