Thermo Fisher halts sales of DNA technology in Tibet, WSJ says

Following a decision to stop selling certain DNA-based human-identification products in China’s Xinjiang region “almost five years ago,” instrumentation maker Thermo Fisher Scientific, said it will no longer sell like products in Tibet, James Areddy wrote for the Wall Street Journal. The use of the company’s technology by authorities in China and Tibet to “identify and track people in a manner” the U.S. government classifies as abusive and complaints from human-rights groups led to the halt, added the story.
