Stellantis will mandate that union staff work overtime at the company’s Warren Truck assembly and Jefferson North plant in Michigan, in an effort to increase Jeep SUV output ahead of a potential strike deadline in September, Reuters’ Bianca Flowers reports, citing a document. The car maker told employees at both facilities that the sites will be in “critical status” from July 5 through October 2, the author says. Under the current United Auto Workers contract, a factory in critical status can run up to seven days a week for a period of 90 days and require that union workers work over nine hours of overtime, the author notes.
