Square Enix reports 9M net sales JPY248.5B vs JPY257.6B last year

Reports 9M operating income JPY33.3B vs JPY34.9B last year. Net sales fell year-over-year mainly due to weakness in existing titles in Games for Smart Devices/PC Browser, the company said, adding that profits were up in HD and MMO games, but overall operating income down due to sharp profit decline in Games for Smart Devices/PC Browser. Of note, the company said that sales of “Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake” were stronger than initially expected, contributing to higher HD Games operating income for the period. Meanwhile, Games for Smart Devices/PC Browser operating income was sharply down on weakness in existing titles.
