Spotify (SPOT) Technology was granted its motion to dismiss a complaint filed by the Mechanical Licensing Collective, which collects payments from streaming services for songwriters, composers, lyricists and publishers, by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The MLC was alleging that Spotify made a change to its premium service and failed to report and pay the royalties required by U.S. copyright law for the use of musical works.
