Spotify (SPOT) plans to pay incentives to video creators who hit certain viewing thresholds and, in January, let Premium subscribers view podcast videos without ads, The Wall Street Journal’s Anne Steele reports. Spotify currently allows hosts to upload podcast videos, but doesn’t offer such payments. Spotify wants to persuade more podcasters to make videos for its own platform in addition to YouTube (GOOGL).
