Sega Sammy president and group CEO Haruki Satomi said that its recent release “Sonic Superstars,” the latest in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise, did not sell as well as the company hoped during its launch window, VideoGamesChronicle’s Chris Scullion reports. On the company’s financial results presentation, Satomi said the title had a weaker start than anticipated, but said the company hopes things will eventually pick up, the author notes. “Sonic Superstars was released in October, which is a slightly weaker start than we had anticipated,” Satomi said. “But in reality, when Sonic IP sells the most is mainly November to December, and more than 90% of this title’s marketing cost will be spent in the Thanksgiving and holiday season from November onwards.”
