Southern California Edison, a unit of Edison International (EIX), on Thursday submitted two letters to the California Public Utilities Commission saying there may be a link between its equipment and two of the wildfires that raged in Southern California last month, The Wall Street Journal’s Dean Seal reports. In the letters on its analysis of the Eaton and Hurst wildfires, SCE says it believes its equipment may be associated with the start of the Hurst fire, with information and data, including videos from external parties, also suggesting that the Edison unit’s equipment was involved in the Eaton fire, though the unit hasn’t found any typical indications that would support such a link. “While we do not yet know what caused the Eaton wildfire, SCE is exploring every possibility in its investigation, including the possibility that SCE’s equipment was involved,” Edison CEO Pedro Pizarro said.
