A U.S. Air Force pilot is reportedly safe following a single-seat F-35 fighter jet crash that occurred during a training exercise at a military base near Anchorage, Alaska, the Associated Press’ Mark Thiessen reports. The pilot experienced an “inflight malfunction,” but was able to eject from the jet safely, the author says, citing comments from Colonel Paul Townsend, commander of the 354th Fighter Wing. The Fly notes that Lockheed Martin (LMT) is the main F-35 contractor, with principal partners Northrop Grumman (NOC) and BAE Systems (BAESY).
