Los Angeles County has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing PepsiCo (PEP) and Coca-Cola (KO) of polluting the most populated county in the U.S. with plastic bottles and misleading the public about the environmental impact and recyclability of their beverage containers, Reuters’ Nate Raymond reports. The county claims that the soft drink giants are contributing to plastic pollution with their single-use plastic bottles and were engaging in efforts to deceive consumers into believing that such bottles were recyclable, the author notes.
