Nvidia (NVDA) scraped sources like Netflix (NFLX) and YouTube (GOOGL) to train an unreleased foundational AI model, 404 Media’s Samantha Cole reports, citing internal Slack chats, emails, and documents obtained by the publication. According to the leaked documents, Nvidia was scraping “a human lifetime” of videos per day to train AI, while concerned staff were told they had full clearance to do so. Nvidia defended its practice as being “in full compliance with the letter and spirit of copyright law” when asked about legal and ethical aspects of using copyrighted content to train an AI model, Cole writes.
