Northrop Grumman (NOC) has withdrawn from a competition to build a new generation of satellites for U.K.’s armed forces, The Financial Times’ Sylvia Pfeifer reports. Northrop had teamed with Airbus (EADSY) to bid for the contract to deliver a narrowband satellite service to be used for battlefield communications as part of the GBP 6B “SkyNet 6” program. Northrop’s decision to withdraw leaves just a partnership between Thales Alenia Space (TCSFY) and Thales UK on the shortlist.
