Navient’s settlement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on a years-long lawsuit related to federal student loan servicing matters is positive and far better than worst-case scenario considerations, Keefe Bruyette tells investors in a research note. The firm thinks a large headwind for Navient has been eliminated, but remains Market Perform-rated on the prepayment headwinds that have plagued the company’s NIM on FFELP loans.
