JMP Securities analyst Mikhail Goberman initiated coverage of Mr. Cooper (COOP) with an Outperform rating and $115 price target suggesting potential price upside of 25%. The firm believes the shares should appreciate over time through valuation expansion as the company is able to demonstrate strong financial results and continued servicing and origination market share growth in 2025 after an “exceptionally strong” 2024. Mr. Cooper’s performance should be less tied to the volatility swings of market interest rates as its “industry-leading” refinancing recapture rate, its counter-cyclical and growing origination business, and its capital-light, fee-income-based subservicing business should provide significant earnings support, the analyst tells investors in a research note.
