Morgan Stanley exiting UN-backed climate alliance for banks, Reuters reports

Morgan Stanley (MS) is the latest bank to leave the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, following similar moves in recent weeks by Citi (C), Bank of America (BAC), Goldman Sachs (GS), and Wells Fargo (WFC), Reuters’ Simon Jessop reports. Morgan Stanley said in a statement that its commitment to helping the world transition to net-zero carbon emissions “remains unchanged” and that “We aim to contribute to real-economy decarbonization by providing our clients with the advice and capital required to transform business models and reduce carbon intensity.” The banks’ exits are the latest sign corporate America may retreat from climate goals during Donald Trump’s second term as U.S. president, The Financial Times previously said.
