Michigan job numbers have been hit of late by auto industry layoffs, amid a move to electreric vehicles, writes the NY Post’s George Caldwell. ‘The auto industry is big business in Michigan” and assembling EVs is a much less labor intensive task than building gas powered vehiicles, asdded the story. “I’m sure all the people I work with are glad to have jobs. But the problem is in these electric-vehicle departments, you’re laying people off,”UAW member Isaiah Gordon told The Post. Publicly traded companies in the space include Ford (F), General Motors (GM), Honda (HMC), Mercedes-Benz (MBGYY), Nissan (NSANY), Stellantis (STLA), Tesla (TSLA), Toyota (TM) and Volkswagen (VWAGY).
