Monness Crespi upgraded MasterCard (MA) to Buy from Neutral with a $640 price target after the company delivered a “strong” top and bottom line beat on spending strength, highlighted by a pick-up in consumer and further accentuated by pull forward of travel demand and a spike in usage as a funding tool for crypto. Guidance for calendar year 2025 is in-line at the midpoint and EPS growth also is “seemingly in line,” the analyst noted. The firm has a “growing appreciation” for MasterCard Value Added Services positioning and “first mover advantage” versus Visa (V) in this respect, added the analyst.
