Lithium Americas initiated with a Speculative Buy at Canaccord

Canaccord initiated coverage of “NewCo” Lithium Americas (LAC) with a Speculative Buy rating and C$15.50 price target following the recent completion of its previously announced separation of its U.S.-based and Argentina-based operations. Lithium Americas and Lithium Argentina (LAAC) commenced trading as separate entities on both the TSX and NYSE on October 4, notes the firm, which offers updated views and estimates for both companies. With first production of lithium carbonate targeted in the second half of 2026, the firm believes Thacker Pass “represents one of the fastest and best options to achieve meaningful large-scale lithium production in the United States,” the analyst tells investors.
