JCP Investments pushing Cheesecake Factory to split off smaller brands, WSJ says

JCP Investments has accumulated a 2% stake in Cheesecake Factory (CAKE), urging its board to spin out its three brands, The Wall Street Journal’s Lauren Thomas reports, citing people familiar with the matter. JCP has indicated that it would be willing to inject capital into the spun-off entity to help with its growth and also argued to Cheesecake Factory that three of its restaurant brands – North Italia, Flower Child, and Culinary Dropout – would be better off as a separate company focused on faster growth, the report states.
