India’s antitrust body, the Competition Commission of India, CCI, asked the Supreme Court to hear challenges to an investigation of Amazon (AMZN) and Walmart’s (WMT) Flipkart e-commerce platforms, arguing those challenges, filed by Samsung (SSNLF), Vivo, and others at Indian high courts, were made to scuttle the probe, Aditya Kalra of Reuters reports. In a filing made on December 3, the CCI asked the court to hear 23 challenges on Amazon and Flipkart platforms to enable the case to be decided quickly. Back in August, the CCI found Amazon and Flipkart breached India’s antitrust laws by favoring selected sellers on their website, according to documents reviewed by Reuters. Additionally, it found smartphone companies, such as Samsung and Vivo, broke those laws by colluding with the two e-commerce companies to exclusively launch products online. Since these findings, nearly two dozen lawsuits have been filed by vendors of the companies to block the investigation, the commission said.
