Green Plains announces updates on ‘Advantage Nebraska’ carbon capture project

Green Plains announced that the construction management agreements have been executed and the major equipment necessary to capture the carbon from its Nebraska facilities has been ordered. These milestones position the company to commence construction in the second half of 2024, and to begin capturing the biogenic carbon dioxide associated with the production of 287 million gallons of ethanol annually beginning in the second half of 2025. The carbon capture equipment will be installed at the company’s Central City, Wood River and York, Nebraska locations and has been sized to accommodate the potential for post-combustion carbon capture and increased production, with overall carbon capture capacity up to 1.2 million tons.
