Gordon Haskett’s head of event-driven research Don Bilson wonders if Nike (NKE) would consider replacing CEO John Donahoe with former Deckers Outdoor (DECK) CEO Dave Powers after seeing how well Starbucks (SBUX) shares reacted to the hiring of Brian Niccol. “Similar to Niccol, Powers has put up video game numbers in recent years,” writes in a research note. However, unlike Starbucks, Gordon Haskett points out that Nike’s board is controlled by one person, Phil Knight, making activist pressure less likely.
