Google (GOOGL) owns a 14% stake in Anthropic but holds no voting rights, board seats, or board observer rights, The New York Times’ Cade MetzNico Grant and David McCabe report, citing legal filings that the AI start-up submitted as part of a Google antitrust case. According to the filings, Google can own only up to 15% of Anthropic, but aims to aims to invest $750M more in September through convertible debt. The Fly notes that Amazon (AMZN) has also invested in Anthropic.
