Europe video game sales fall 6.2% year-over-year in April, GI.biz reports

PC and console game sales dropped 6.2% year-over-year in Europe last month, with 10.5M game units sold, Gamesindustry.biz’s Christopher Dring reports, citing data from GSD. April was a quite month for new releases, with the only new title in the top ten being PlayStation 5 (SONY) exclusive “Stellar Blade,” the author notes. Meanwhile, there was a resurgence in “Fallout” series sales, with “Fallout 4” comfortably in the top spot in Europe in April amid the popularity of the Amazon Prime (AMZN) adaptation, the author says. On the hardware side, console sales fell 47% year-over-year in April, the author notes. Other publicly traded companies in the video game space include Microsoft (MSFT), Nintendo (NTDOY), Electronic Arts (EA), Take-Two (TTWO), Tencent (TCEHY), and Ubisoft (UBSFY).
