EPA issues emergency order suspending all uses of AMVAC’s Dacthal, NYT says

The Environmental Protection Agency has issued an emergency order suspending all uses of herbicide dimethyl tetrachloroterephthalate, also known as DCPA or Dacthal, linked to serious health risks for fetuses, The New York Times’ Hiroko Tabuchi reports. The agency said that fetuses exposed to the herbicide, used on crops such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and onions, could potentially experience low birth weight, impaired brain development, and impaired motor skills later in life, the author notes. AMVAC Chemical Corporation, a subsidiary of American Vanguard, is the sole manufacturer of the weedkiller, the author notes.
