Elliott Investment Managementhas become the largest minority investor in Aspen Technology (AZPN) with a stake in the industrial-software company of more than 9%, worth more than $1.5B, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. The activist investor plans to oppose the terms ofEmerson Electric’s (EMR) latest offer to buy the shares in Aspen Tech that it doesn’t already own for $265 apiece in cash as Elliott believes the price is too low, the sources said.
