EA permanently moves BioWare staff to new projects, Bloomberg reports

Electronic Arts (EA) recently informed staff at “Dragon Age” and “Mass Effect” studio BioWare that many of them would be temporarily moved to other projects at the publisher until the next “Mass Effect” required their help, but this week that group was informed that such moves would actually be permanent relocations, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports, citing people familiar with what happened. The workers were no longer BioWare employees on temporarily on assignment elsewhere, but rather staff at whichever EA subsidiary had “borrowed” them, the author notes. As part of that same reorganization, around two dozen other people at BioWare were laid off, the author says, citing people familiar with the matter. BioWare is now down to less than 100 workers from over 200 people two years ago, the author says, noting that sales of “Dragon Age: The Veilguard” missed internal sales expectations.
