The DOJ is urging a federal judge to block JetBlue’s (JBLU) proposed $3.8B acquisition of Spirit Airlines (SAVE), Reuters’ Nate Raymond reports. Though JetBlue agreed to sell Spirit’s gates and slots at certain airports in New York City, Boston, Newark and Fort Lauderdale, the DOJ says these divestitures are not enough, and argues that the combined airline would harm consumers by increasing fares and reducing choice on routes nationwide.
