Disney’s chief diversity officer Latondra Newton is leaving the company, according to a memo from Disney chief human resources officer Sonia Coleman, Deadline’s Patrick Hipes reports. Coleman wrote that Newton “decided to leave The Walt Disney Company to pursue other endeavors,” with Hipes saying that Newton, who has been Disney’s CDO since 2017, plans to join a corporate board and focus on a creative company she owns. Julie Merges, SVP Talent Acquisition, will run the DEI operations on an interim basis while the search for Newton’s replacement is underway.
