ESPN, which likely will not launch a direct-to-consumer product before 2025, has held talks with the NBA, NFL, MLB and the NHL on being minority partners in the network, sources told CNBC’s Alex Sherman. While Disney CEO Bob Iger would prefer to keep a majority stake in ESPN, the company would consider a full spin of ESPN if they can’t reach a deal to do so, a person familiar with the matter told Sherman.
