ChargePoint to offer NACS connector options ‘soon’

Previously, on June 12, ChargePoint (CHPT) had stated in a press release: “For more than 15 years, ChargePoint has been enabling the mass adoption of electric vehicles for consumers and businesses. ChargePoint remains committed to delivering the best charging experience possible to all drivers of all makes and models of electric vehicles. As a technology company enabling hosts to offer charging to their customers, employees, and fleets, our charging solutions have always been available for multiple connectors including CCS1, CHAdeMO and J1772 in North America; as well as Type 2 and CCS2 in Europe. While a world with multiple connectors has been topical in the news, it has long been the norm at ChargePoint. ChargePoint’s Express 250, Express Plus, CPF50, CP6000, and the award-winning Home Flex all offer modular connectors for both customer preference and serviceability. ChargePoint will soon be offering a NACS connector option for all of these products, with cost-effective field upgrades available for chargers that are already in service… The ChargePoint NACS connector solutions were actively in R&D before recent news about the connector type, and as a result are planned to deliver ahead of the vehicles with native NACS ports announced over the past two weeks.” EVgo (EVGO) had also announced on June 12 that the company will be adding North American Charging Standard, or NACS, connectors to its fast charging network across the country following the recent announcements by Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) that they will be leveraging NACS starting some time in 2025. Tesla (TSLA) vehicles and its Supercharger Network are built with the North American Charging Standard connector design.
