Evercore ISI analyst Robert Ottenstein says total energy drink category sales were up 2.7% year-over-year in the last four weeks, down 580 basis points from the 8.5% growth in Q1, with traditional sales up 0.1% and new-wave sales up 23.9%. Traditional has ceded 305 points of share to new-wave year-over-year in the week ending June 16, although the new-wave brands’ growth continues to slow, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Celsius Holdings (CELH) share is down to 11.6% in the las four weeks verses 12% in the four weeks prior, Evercore points out. The firm says Monster Beverage’s (MNST) Bang share trends are improving while Celsius’ share is down 50 points sequentially in that last weeks. It believes category volumes remain weak. Shares of Celsius are down 6% to $55.90 in afternoon trading.
