In an interview on CNBC’s Mad Money, Jim Umpleby said some markets have been depressed, but the company still produced great results in Q2. Backup generators for data centers is becoming a very strong business for Caterpillar, he noted. The residential side of the business has proved resilient despite the housing shortage, he added. Umpleby expects the electrification of engines to benefit the mining business over time.
