Boeing (BA) is closing in on a major order for its 777X widebody model from Emirates, in what would provide an important boost to a program that’s years behind schedule, Bloomberg’s Siddharth Vikram Philip, Julie Johnsson, and Leen Al-Rashdan report, citing people familiar with the matter. Already the biggest buyer of the widebody aircraft, Emirates is poised to order a high double-digit number of the 777X, said the people. As part of the deal, regional affiliate FlyDubai could take on some smaller 787 Dreamliners, sources added. Airbus (EADSY) is also negotiating possible deal with Emirates for A350.
