Block (XYZ) laid off 931 people, or approximately 8% of the company’s staff, earlier this week, Charles Rollet and Maxwell Zeff of TechCrunch report, citing a leaked message from the company seen by the journal. CEO Jack Dorsey told staff the company will be “making some org changes, including eliminating roles and beginning the consultation process in countries where required,” according to TechCrunch. Of the employees being laid off, 391 are being cut for “strategy” reasons, 460 for “performance” reasons, and 80 to flatten the company’s hierarchy.
