President Joe Biden on Monday is announcing broader curbs on advanced technology that can be sent to China, The New York Times’ Ana Swanson reports. The new rules prohibit the sale of certain types of chips and equipment to China, in an effort to close loopholes and cement the Biden administration’s legacy in countering the U.S. rival. The restrictions will add over 100 Chinese companies to the restricted trade list and are also likely to be the administration’s last on Chinese technology before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next month. Companies in the space include Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Intel (INTC), Qualcomm (QCOM), NVIDIA (NVDA), Marvel (MRVL), Texas Instruments (TXN), Micron (MU), Microchip (MCHP).
