Founder and former president and CEO of Amazon (AMZN), Jeff Bezos along with VC firm Institutional Venture Partners and other tech executives are backing search startup Perplexity, Miles Kruppa wrote for the Wall Street Journal. Looking to “upend” Google’s (GOOG, GOOGL) search dominance, Perplexity was recently started in a San Francisco co-working space “using advances in AI to provide direct answers, instead of website links, in response to search queries,” added the WSJ story. Bezos along with Institutional Venture Partners and the others invested $74M valuing the startup at over $500M “including the new money, said Chief Executive Officer Aravind Srinivas, according to the WSJ story.
