AstraZeneca is withdrawing its Covid-19 vaccine worldwide after admitting it can cause very rare but life-threatening injuries, Arpan Rai of Independent reports. The company has withdrawn its EU marketing authorization for the vaccine, called Vaxzevria since 2021. The withdraw was claimed to be due to a “surplus of available updated vaccines” against new coronavirus variants, the company said. AstraZeneca also recently admitted its vaccine could cause rare side effects, such as blood clots and low blood platelet counts.
